NATCO Northern Areas Transport Corporation [All Details]

NATCO Northern Areas Transport Corporation is one of the largest transport companies operating in Gilgit Baltistan. NATCO was started on 23 February 1989 by the Government of Pakistan, for the people of Gilgit Baltistan.

Before the launch of NATCO, the people of Gilgit Baltistan used to travel by private cars, which were very rare and expensive. Not all people had access to cars, and the rest of the people couldn’t afford to travel in private cars.

The establishment of NATCO services was a blessing for the people of GB Gilgit Baltistan, which makes their life easy and also makes it easy to connect to the rest of the major cities of Pakistan.

Gilgit Baltistan is a remote area in the Northern Area of Pakistan, with temperatures of -20 C centigrade in the winter season and heavy snowfall.

There was only 1 single road that ended in the Skardu main city, and there was no proper road to other remote areas of Skardu, Baltistan, which was one of the main problems for the people of GB.

Skardu city is now a business hub for the people of Baltistan. But it was not always the same. If we go back 30 years, the village had many problems, especially for the business community.

The people of Skardu used to bring all the items from other cities of Pakistan, mainly from Rawalpindi. Because there are no such factories available in Skardu. Due to the lack of transport facilities, it was a big problem, and it took more than a week to reach a truck from Rawalpindi to Skardu at that time.

But now things have become much better.

It is human nature that we take a lot of stuff with us while traveling. Because I personally belong to Gilgit Baltistan and I know the nature of the people of GB, including me, we take a lot of luggage when we have to travel to our village. But in the passenger buses, there are some limitations on weight. So you are not allowed to take more than 40-50 KG with you.
