YES, it is true that following the World Second highest giant, K2, also known as Mount Godwin Austen, in Shigar Valley of Skardu Baltistan. GB is home to more than 200 giant mountains, but we are not discussing all of them; we are limiting this post to the 5 highest mountains in the world.

#1- K2 Mount Godwin Austen
The highest peak in Skardu, Baltistan, is actually the World’s second-highest mountain, K2 کے ٹو. Skardu, Baltistan, has the honor of having such 8,611-meter mountains in the region.
K2 is the World’s 2nd Highest mountain, and it is no longer a secret because K2 is famous all over the world because of its deadly height and the harsh weather faced by climbers during their summits. Hundreds of mountaineers lose their lives just trying to summit this giant mountain every year. Studies show that K2 is way more difficult than the World No-1 highest mountain, Mount Everest.
There is also a rumor that K2 is the World’s Number 1 highest mountain.
K2 Climbing History By The Climbers of Skardu, Baltistan
As we know, K2 was successfully climbed by hundreds of Pakistani and international mountaineers. We, the people of Baltistan, are proud that our people have also made a huge contribution to all the expeditions happened so far.

How To Get To K2?
Skardu is the capital of the Baltistan region. Skardu International Airport has a daily flight from PIA Pakistan International Airlines from Islamabad. Luckily, Skadu has flights from Karachi and Lahore on a weekly basis.
It depends on which city you are starting your journey from to K2. You can take a ticket in PIA and reach Skardu. Another way is to take local transport by road from Rawalpindi/Islamabad to Skardu.
Once you reach Skardu, there is a more than 3-hour drive to the last village of Shigar Valley called Askoli Shigar. You are still far from the K2 Base Camp.
Askoli is the last village of Shigar Valley with access to cars or jeeps. From Askloi, the actual journey has started to the giant K2 Base Camp.
#2- Nanga Parbat
Nana Parbat, the “King of Mountain,” is located in the region of the Diamer district of Gilgit Baltistan. This mountain is 8,126 meters high, and it is considered one of the top 5 highest mountains in GB.
#3- Gasherbrum I
Gasherbrum I, K5, or Hidden Peak are all the same name as this mountain. Located in the extremely remote area of Shigar Valley, Skardu, Baltistan.
Gasherbrum I is known because of its 8,080 meters height, which is counted in the World’s 8t6h highest mountain list.
More than 4 times this giant has been submitted by mountaineers from all around the world, including the mountaineers of Skardu, Baltistan.
