Skardu Rulers History: Genealogy of Maqpon Rulers in Skardu [YEARS]
Skardu is a famous tourist place and an important part of Pakistan located in the North of Pakistan also known as the Northern Area of Pakistan. The region is divided into 5 districts Skardu, Roundu, Kharmang, Shiagr, and Ghanche.
Skardu has a deep and old history where several dynasties ruled before the partition of Pakistan and India. One of the famous dynasties was Maqpon Dynasty. The word Sakrdu was first mentioned in the 16th century by Mirza Haider (1499-1551) as Askardu in a renowned book Tarik-i-Baltistan تاریخ بلتستان۔
Later in 1586, Ali Sher Khan Anchan, one of the heroes of the region’s people, used the word Skardu when he conquered the area on the orders of the Great Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1556-1605.
