Serena Shigar Fort also known as Fong Khar فونگ کھر (Local Language) means a Palace on the Huge Rock. Shigar Fort is built by Hassan Khan the ruler of the Amacha Dynasty in the 17th century.
The Shigar Fort is the only remains of the Amacha Dynasty in the Shigar Valley.

Those who are traveling from Rawalpindi/Islamabad also have to reach Skardu first and then start the journey again toward Shigar valley.
If you are traveling via PIA then it will not take more than 45 minutes to an hour to reach the fort from Skardu International Airport. And if you are traveling with any public or private transport by road then it will take more time.
