Politics in Gilgit Baltistan is as famous as in other parts of Pakistan. This article is about Politicians from Gilgit Baltistan and political parties.

This list includes the current and previous politicians of GB, most of them are active now and a member of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly and many of them are not current members of the Assembly but they still have a strong impact on the politics of their region Gilgit Baltistan Pakistan.

There are more than 5 political parties registered in GB and most of the politicians from GB are connected to any of the parties, only a few of them are independent candidates and they participate in each election as independent candidates. But we observed that, if they won the election, they joined the party which came into power for the coming 5 years.

• Amjad Hussain Azar

Amjad Hussain is the current opposition leader of the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly, and he belongs to the Pakistan People’s Party PPP. He fought the election from GBA-1 and won the election with 11,178. His opponent was an independent candidate.

• Fethullah Khan

Fethullah Khan is a PTI candidate who fought from GBLA-2 Gilgit and won the election beating his opponent from PPP Jamil Ahmed. He got a total of 6,698 votes.

• Syed Sohail Abbas Shah

Syed Sohail Abbas Shah is a PTI candidate who fought from GBLA-3 Gilgit and won the election beating his opponent Muhammad Iqbal who was an independent candidate. He got a total of 6,873 votes.

• Javed Ali Manwa

Javed Ali Manwa was an independent candidate who fought from BLA-5 and won the election against Rizwan Ali from ITP. He got 2,570 votes.

• Abaid Ullah Baig

Abaid Ullah Baig is a PTI candidate who fought from GBLA-6 Gilgit and won the election beating his opponent Noor Muhammad who was an independent candidate. He got a total of 5,710 votes.

• Raja Muhammad Zakaria Khan Maqpoon

Fought from GBA-7 Skardu against the former Chief Minister of GB Syed Mehdi Shah and won the last election with 5,565 votes. He is from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf PTI.

• Muhammad Kazim Maisam

Got 7,842 and won the last election, but it was his first election and he fought from MWM Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen Pakistan. He fought from GBA-8 Skardu.

• Wazir Muhammad Saleem

Fought from GBA-9 and won the election against Fida M. Nashad with 6,286 votes. He was again an independent candidate.

• Raja Nasir Ali Khan Maqpoon

An independent candidate fought from GBLA-10 Skardu and won the last election. This is also his first election. He belongs to RoundU District Skardu Baltistan.

• Syed Amjad Ali Zaidi

Fought from GBLA-11 from PTI ticket. He belongs to Kharmang Skardu. He is an experienced politician from GB.

• Raja Azam Khan Amacha

He fought from Shigar GBLA-12 and won from PTI ticket.

• Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan

Got 4,836 votes and won the election, he also fought for a PTI ticket from GBLA-13.

• Shamsul Haq

He also had a PTI ticket and fought GBLA-14.

• Shah Baig

Again, an independent candidate fought from GBLA-15 and got 2,713 votes.

• Muhammad Anwar

He belongs to PMLN and fought from GBLA-16.

• Rehmat Khaliq

Fought from GBLA-17 and he had a ticket from JUI(F)

• Gulbar Khan

Fought from GBLA-18 and he had a ticket from PTI

• Nawaz Khan Naji

Nawaz Khan Naji is one of the most popular yet controversial politicians in the region, because of the political party he belongs to. But it is also a fact that he has a huge fan base in GB. That’s why most of the time he won elections just like the last election. He fought from the BNF platform and won with 6208 votes against Pir Jalal Ali Shah PPP.

• Ghulam Muhammad

Fought from GBLA-21 and he had a ticket from PMLN

• Nazir Ahmed

Fought from GBLA-20 and he had a ticket from PTI

• Mushtaq Hussain

Fought from GBLA-22 and he was an independent candidate.

• Abdul Hameed

He also fought from GBLA-23 as an independent candidate and won the election. This election was the first election of his career. Before competing in the election, he used to run a chain of restaurants in the UAE.

• Engr Mohammad Ismail

Fought from GBLA-24 and he had a ticket from PPP
