The word Deosai means “the Shadow of the Giant” and in Urdu, the word Deosai means “دیو کا سایہ”. In the local language, it means a place with a shade of monsters.

There are certain rules and regulations made by The Plan under the Wildlife Preservation Act Northern Areas (1975) which are applied to all the visitors who are going to Deosai National Park.

1. Entry into the Park without paying the Entry Fee
2. Temporary or permanent residence
3. Hunt, kill, or capture or intend to hunt, kill, or capture any wild animal
4. Carry any firearm, explosive, or any other hunting weapon
5. Introduce any pet or domestic animal
6. Fire, cut, destroy, injure, or damage any tree, grass, bush, or other vegetation types
7. Cultivate or encroach land
8. Pollute or contaminate any water resources in or flowing into the Park
9. Introduce any exotic animal or plant
10. Pick any flower or remove any plant, stone, or other natural object from the Park
