This is a story of 2020 when I and my 4 other friends decided to start a Tour To The North of Pakistan, which nowadays is normal and everyone is going to Gilgit Baltistan in Summer. But our trip has one special thing and which was the “Bike Tour”.

Overall our trip was great but had a detailed list with us and we followed a proper plan which is shared here today.

We started our Bike Trip at midnight just to avoid the day’s sunny weather. Also, if you are traveling at night you can cover more distance without any disturbance and can save some time. We do the same and it works for us.

#1- Packing Too Much Stuff
You need to keep in mind that you are traveling on a bike, not in a car. So keep things according to the bike. Do not take too much stuff with you, try to take only those thing which is important.
#2- Forget The Daily Mileage Goal
The distance from Islamabad to Skardu is 13 hr 32 min, 637.5 km via Karakoram Highway.
So if you do not have a plan about how to distance yourself in less time then you may waste a few days on the road only which may result in you will miss some beautiful places n Skardu Baltistan.
Because I observe that tourists have limited days for their tour. So try to not waste more time on the way.
#3- Refusing Rest
In the above point, I mentioned that do not waste time during travel and on the way. But it doesn’t mean you refuse to rest and travel continuously. Because being a humans our bodies need rest to recover. If you take a proper rest you will be more productive for the next day.
So take a sleeping bag and other stuff with you to take proper rest on the way to Skardu Baltistan during your bike tour.
On our bike tour, we had two sleeping bags with our blankets and pillows also.
Which Bike Should You Get?
For Skardu Baltistan Bike Tour your Bike must be in a good condition. And the comfort of your bike plays a major role throughout the tour.
Because I know most of the tourists start their GB Tour from Islamabad or any other main city in Pakistan. And in Pakistan, the trend of motorbikes is Honda CD 125 and Deluxe. It’s hard to find a sports bike there in Pakistan. Also, sports bikes are not recommended for this tour.
It’s better if you can get a Honda CG 125 Bike in good condition. So you can easily complete your dream trip Gilgit Baltistan Bike Tour.
#4- Being Unaware Of The Motorcycle’s Fuel Range
Do you know how much fuel a bike needs to complete a journey from Islamabad to Skardu Baltistan?
If you don’t know the answer and you are traveling, you are doing a big mistake. Don’t even think of it. You must have the right information about the fuel range of a bike from ISB to Skardu.

#5- Wearing The Wrong Motorcycle Gear
Yes, a very important point. Because the distance of Skardu Valley from Islamabad is very long and you have to kit yourself properly to avoid any circumstances during the trip to Skardu.
Take all the basic and necessary bike gear with you. If you don’t have space with you, give it to your friend but make sure you have the gear.

Do not forget to take complete camping gear with you if you want to save a good amount of money during the trip. If you have camping gear with you, you can camo anywhere instead of booking a hotel room.
#2- Not Carrying All-Weather Clothes
Keep in mind that you are going to Skardu Baltistan. The coldest place in Pakistan where the weather goes to 20C in winter. But in summer the weather is normally pleasant but you have to wear a coat at all times. If you are not used to cold weather it will be difficult for you to survive in summer also.
You will get sick due to the cold weather. So the easy solution is to take some warm clothes with you, so you can wear them.
