Ali Sadpara Biography: Heroes Of Gilgit Baltistan

Ali Sadpara علی سدپارہ was a high-altitude mountaineer. and a proud son of Skardu Baltistan flies the Green Flag on the World 2nd Highest Mountain K2. His full name is Muhammad Ali Sadpara. He belongs to a small village in Skardu Valley called Sadpara Village. Ali Sadpara was born on February 2, 1976, in Sadpara Village. He started his career as a porter. He used to go with Western climbers who came to climb on K2 and other peaks in the Baltistan region.

Ali Sadpara Early Education

He completed his early education in his village Sadpara and later on he went to Skardu City for his secondary education. He didn’t get higher studies due to some problems which he never disclosed to the public.

First Winter Ascent

In the year 216, Ali Sadpara teamed up with two other mountaineers Alpinist Simone Moro who was from Italy, and Alpinist Alex Tsikon who was from Spain, and completed his first winter ascent of Nanga Parbat. The height of Nanga Parbat is 8,126 m and this is the second highest peak in Pakistan.

It was the first time that a team was going to conquer eight thousanders in the winter season. Becuase the winter season is the extreme cold season and the most difficult also. But his dedication to making Pakistan and his region proud helped him to complete this mission and become the first team who climb in the winter season.

Ali Sadpara Mountaineering experience

Ali Sadpara successfully claimed more than 14 eight-thousanders on Earth including the world’s second highest peak K2. He gave his life on this mountain on February 18, 2021, when he and two other mountaineers disappeared, and later on their deaths eas confirmed by the government of Pakistan.

Ali Sadpara Tributes

Ali Sadpara (late) made Pakistan’s name proud in the world by his profession. After he disappeared the whole nation was worried and praying for his recovery. The social media was full of Ali Sadpara and everyone was posting about him. But unfortunately, he gave his life in the mountains.

But we didn’t forget him and after his death, different organizations, government bodies, and normal people did many things to pay him tribute for his bravery.

Here are a few of them.

  • A climbing wall named after Sadpara was inaugurated at Qayyum Stadium, Peshawar.
  • U.S.-based NGO Paani Project built a well in honor of Sadpara.
  • Pakistan International Airlines renamed its air safari in honor of Ali Sadpara.
  • A park in Korangi, Karachi was made in honor of Sadpara.
  • Sadpara was honored with a monument at MP Chowk in Somikot, Gilgit. The roundabout was also renamed to Sadpara Chowk.

Ali Sadpara Son Sajid Sadpara

After the death of his father Ali Sadpara, his son Sajid Sadpara followed in his father’s footsteps and started his professional career in mountaineering and climbing. He was also with his father when Ali Sadpara disappeared at K2 and died.
